Desert & Graded Road Driving — built for roads that don't exist in most simulators.
Dust, unmarked graded roads, sudden rollover risk, high centers of gravity on heavy vehicles — the conditions that define Middle East operations barely feature in generic driving training. VIRSAT built the first driving simulator specifically for graded roads to close that gap.
The Graded Road DrivingSimulator™ is the world's first physical driving simulator built specifically for graded and desert roads — dust, rollover risk, tire loss of control, high centers of gravity on heavy vehicles. HeadSafe's Vehicle Inspection check verifies the pre-trip side of the same journey, live today.

A regional risk most training ignores
Road fatality rates across parts of the Middle East run an estimated 5–15x higher than the safest countries, with losses estimated at 2–4% of GDP. Speeding, distraction, and desert driving conditions are recurring causes — and standard driving courses, built around paved urban roads, don't prepare drivers for any of it.
Practice the crash, not just the theory.
A 6-degrees-of-freedom physical simulator lets drivers experience — and recover from — the exact situations that cause fatal incidents on graded and desert roads, without the real-world risk.

Graded Road DrivingSimulator™
The world's first driving simulator built for graded roads. Drivers see the road ahead in 3D, feel the bumps, and operate full vehicle controls — sophisticated enough that "accidents" can genuinely happen in the simulator, safely.
- —6 Degrees of Freedom motion platform — linear, pitch, yaw, roll, and more
- —Complements the Defensive Driving VR module and on-the-road training
- —Physical simulator hardware, deployable at your site or VIRSAT's training center
Vehicle Inspection — HeadSafe
Before a trip on graded or desert roads, HeadSafe's Vehicle Inspection check walks the driver through the pre-trip checklist — hands-free, voice-controlled, with the results logged automatically.
- —Covers the pre-trip checks specific to this kind of route
- —See the Vehicle Inspection topic page for the full detail
Scenarios most drivers only meet for the first time in a real crash.
Classroom or e-learning vs. VIRSAT's VR module
The gap is largest on procedures with a strict, ordered sequence — exactly what this topic is.
| Question a buyer asks | Classroom / e-learning | VIRSAT VR module |
|---|---|---|
| Does the worker perform the recovery sequence, or just watch it? | Watches | Performs |
| Are sequence errors caught during training? | Rarely | Every time |
| Does it link to real-world field verification? | No | Yes — Vehicle Inspection |
| Can it run without a VR headset? | N/A | Yes — PC/desktop available |
What this is — and isn't
Is this the same as Defensive Driving training?
No — Defensive Driving is a VR module covering general driving judgment and rule-following. This is a physical motion simulator built specifically for the conditions of graded and desert roads. Many customers run both.
Do we need our own physical space for the simulator?
It can be deployed at your site — even in a desert location, as demonstrated by one of VIRSAT's customers — or your drivers can experience it at VIRSAT's training center in Abu Dhabi, a good way to see it before committing to an on-site installation.
Is field verification for this topic available yet?
Yes — a dedicated HeadSafe driving check, Vehicle Inspection, is available now and covers the pre-trip checks.
